Aerospace & Defense Council Overview

Conexus Indiana launched the Indiana Aerospace & Defense Council (IADC) in 2011 to support and grow Indiana’s aerospace & defense sector. The IADC is a statewide initiative that serves as a forum for aerospace & defense industry executives and thought leaders to develop personal relationships and collaborate on promising economic development initiatives. The IADC is industry-driven, yet strategically aligned with State government—including the Indiana Office of Defense Development, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The IADC’s mission is to serve as a catalyst for Hoosier aerospace & defense companies to achieve sustainable economic growth.

“When the Indiana Economic Development Corporation partnered with Conexus Indiana to launch the IADC, we saw an opportunity for Indiana’s existing aerospace & defense employers to play a more meaningful role in the State’s economic development efforts. By bringing together such a diverse group of executives, the IADC has established itself as a valuable resource for State leaders to gather information about an important sector of Indiana’s economy. A critical aspect that sets Indiana’s business climate apart from the rest of the nation is our ability to solidify collaborative relationships between state policymakers and the business community. The IADC is part of our ‘collaborative economy,’ with enormous potential to raise Indiana’s profile in the global aerospace & defense marketplace.”  — Chad Pittman, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff

“The Indiana Aerospace and Defense Council serves a critical role in strengthening and growing Indiana’s defense and aerospace industry. The Indiana Office of Defense Development relies on the IADC to define and advocate key industry needs and opportunities. The IADC provides a common defense and aerospace industry voice for workforce development, business assistance, technological innovation, marketing, outreach and public policy concerns—helping to make Indiana the go to place for agile, high value defense and National Security capabilities.” — Duane Embree, Executive Director

“In 2014, the State made a commitment to support Indiana’s defense sector.  By rolling Indiana’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center under the State’s umbrella, Hoosier businesses now have access to a robust network of consultants who can help them identify and capture government contracting opportunities. Simply put, this program would not exist without the IADC and its efforts to educate State leaders about the complexities of the aerospace & defense marketplace. The Indiana Small Business Development Center, along with our Office of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, is proud of its partnership with the IADC and we look forward to identifying more opportunities to support Indiana’s defense sector and grow our economy.” — Jacob Schpok, State Director
