  • Approximately 80% of Department of Defense contracts in Indiana over the past decade were dedicated to the purchase of manufactured goods.
  • Indiana jobs directly supported by defense contracts have an estimated average compensation of $64,000.  The average compensation for all other jobs in the State is $44,600.
  • Defense manufacturing jobs have an average compensation above $90,000, which is approximately $20,000 higher than the average compensation for all manufacturing jobs in the State.
  • Defense contracts account for approximately 85% of all federal contract dollars in Indiana.
