Conexus Indiana names Susan Murray Carlock and Dr. Katie Jenner to board of directors

Susan Murray Carlock, co-owner and vice president of business development for Mursix Corporation and president of Pivot Manufacturing, and Dr. Katie Jenner, secretary of education for the State of Indiana, have joined the board of Conexus Indiana, a statewide organization dedicated to strengthening Indiana’s advanced manufacturing and logistics industries.

As co-owner, Carlock leads Mursix Corporation, a precision-components supplier based in Yorktown, Ind., and is responsible for developing new business opportunities and partner relationships in both domestic and international markets. Carlock also serves as president of Pivot Manufacturing, founded in 2020, which works with entrepreneurs in manufacturing research and development and prototyping.

Carlock is a graduate of Marian University, in addition to being a Registered Nurse, and has more than 20 years of business experience in human resources, corporate relations, risk management and business development. In support of Indiana’s advanced manufacturing and logistics ecosystem, Carlock also serves as vice-chair of the Conexus Indiana Advanced Industries Council, a role that she has held since early 2022.

Jenner leads the Indiana Department of Education as the state’s first secretary of education and chairs the State Board of Education, serving all approximately 1.12 million Hoosier students who attend more than 2,200 schools. Her work includes securing and implementing Indiana’s largest-ever financial investment in literacy focused on the science of reading, launching a comprehensive teacher supply/demand marketplace that tracks vacancies, matches teachers with open positions, and helps recruit new teachers, as well as developing Indiana Graduates Prepared to Succeed (Indiana GPS), a new performance dashboard which re-envisions how the state strategically measures school performance and student learning.

Prior to her appointment as secretary of education, Jenner served as senior education adviser to Governor Eric J. Holcomb. Before public service, Jenner served in a variety of roles in education, such as vice president of K-12 initiatives and statewide partnerships at Ivy Tech Community College, assistant superintendent and career and technical education teacher. She is a graduate of Transylvania University with several advanced degrees including a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from the University of Kentucky.

“As an industry-led organization, we rely on talented leaders from the public and private sectors to help affirm Indiana’s leadership in advanced manufacturing and logistics,” said Conexus Indiana President and CEO Fred Cartwright. “Susan and Katie, with their diverse backgrounds and expertise in industry, education and the public sector, add to our board’s expertise and bring unique perspectives to our industries’ continued evolution.”

Murray and Jenner join 21 existing members of the board of Conexus Indiana.
